About PARENT VOICES ACTION

Parent Voices Action (PVA) is a grassroots, Black-led, multi-racial organization committed to winning affordable, accessible, and quality child care for California children and familes.

Parent Voices Action (PVA) envisions a California where all children and families are healthy and thriving. We believe that parents and guardians have the right to parent, and deserve just equitable systems that reflect the diversity of family needs. Parent Voices Action organizes families to strengthen their leadership in electoral and policy-making spaces. PVA will center families of color, immigrant and migrant communities, parents and guardians in the LGBTQ community, working and low-wage earning families, solo parenting households, and anyone caring for children who utilizes supportive services. PVA provides a space for parents, caregivers and guardians to build political power for their communities and channel their love for their children into social change.

Since 1996, Parent Voices has worked hard to expand opportunities for parent-led, parent-organized action across California in the San Joaquin Valley, seven San Francisco Bay Area Counties, the Central Valley (anchored by Fresno), Los Angeles and San Diego Counties.

The following five areas are how our work is carried out when organized families impacted by social inequity to advocate for economic and educational justice on behalf of their children and communities join Parent Voices.

Recognizing that we needed to expand our political power and engage in ballot initiatives and a higher level of political accountability and voter education, our membership launched Parent Voices Action in 2019 as a new statewide 501c4 not for profit organization dedicated to our vision for full access to quality and affordable Early Childhood Education (ECE).

Since our launch as a new California Statewide organization, our first campaign under our leadership led to the passage of Measure C in Alameda County to fund expanded childcare access, wages, and accountability over the next 20 years.

Parent Voices Action is now working to support the work of our local regional Parent Voices members and chapters, expand coalition of like minded groups committed to high quality affordable ECE and increasing investment in our early to high school public education system.
